Description
From the series "The Phantasmagorical Farmyard"
The Phantasmagorical Farmyard. Mythological creatures, some are human defined, some are a combination of two or more species and some are symbolic. This series celebrates all of those definitions.
The work in this series is mixed media I've use a combination of vintage public domain graphics along with my original art and completed the art in a digital format.
There are legends that say the Bennu bird, as it was called in Ancient Egypt or as the Greeks called it the Phoenix was born out of the heart of Osiris, the son of Ra.
Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. The Bennu or Phoenix has been described in various accounts as being blue, sometimes red or purple red and even yellow so perhaps each time it is reborn it has a new look to celebrate the new life.

I love what I learn from your work Kandy- I feel as if I'm watching a PBS special on mythology (something I love to do) so on top of the fabulous art work I'm learning something new. Can't ask for more than that. Gorgeous work. F/L T P
