Description
County Cork is a county in Ireland. Located in the province of Munster. It is named after the city of Cork. Like many parts of Munster, Cork has rich fertile agricultural land and many bog and peatlands.
The county is colloquially referred to as "The Rebel County". This name has 15th Century origins, but from the 20th century the name has been more commonly attributed to the prominent role Cork played in the Irish War of Independence 1919 to1921
Attractions include the Blarney Stone and Cobh, the port where many Irish emigrants boarded for their voyage to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa or the United States and also the last stop of the Titanic, before departing on its ill fated journey.
West Cork is noted for its rugged natural beauty, fine beaches and distinct social atmosphere.
My family is originally from Cork and it is a pleasure to return for visits and enjoy everything this great county has to offer.
I welcome your visits as well, as your comments, pins and tweets.
Come back often as new work is added frequently.
Thank you for visiting.
