Description
*If you're selecting an art print I recommend the Archival Matte Paper as the paper highlights the beauty of the piece.
The Polar Bear is considered a marine mammal because it spends many months of the year at sea and unlike brown bears, polar bears are not territorial. Although stereotyped as being voraciously aggressive, they are normally cautious in confrontations, and often choose to escape rather than fight.
Polar bear population sizes and trends are difficult to estimate accurately because they occupy remote home ranges and exist at low population densities.
For the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, polar bears have long played an important cultural role dating back to 1,500-year-old cave paintings. These paintings of polar bears have been found in the Chukchi Peninsula.
Sadly the conservation status of these beautiful animals is considered vulnerable The primary conservation concern for polar bears is loss of their sea-ice habitat and reduced access to their primary prey, due to climate change and not harvest.

What a beautiful animal portrait. The expression is so sweet reminding us all that although these animals are fierce they are also so vulnerable!
Kandy Hurley replied:
Thanks Marianne and you're right they are both fierce and vulnerable, now more than ever as climate change impacts their territory.
