I have always been attracted to primitivism and what's referred to as primitive art. I like the simple lines that are used to tell a story.
When I look at cave painting I'm filled with wonderment.
One can imagine, using the light of the fire, an artist stirring pigments made from dirt or charcoal mixed with water to make a painting that would decorate her world and record what was in her mind's eye. This is my work to show appreciation for that art form.
This was inspired by an old woodcut of mine and has been an opportunity to create new art from old.
I was the kid who loved the big box of crayons. I still get that feeling of anticipation with every new project, it's why I continue to explore art in a wide variety of mediums.
