Description
My Celtic Wheel of the Year collection illustrates the changing seasons of the year as well as the cycle of life. Litha, means light, it's a festival dedicated to the life-giving powers of the sun. Also called Midsummer its one of the four solar holidays and is the turning point at which summer reaches its height and the sun shines longest.
The Celts survival depended on good weather, abundant crops and healthy cattle. My work represents the generative power of the sun as it shines upon the earth. I have included the Rune symbols Sowilo the sun, and Ingwaz the earth as well as the eight sided wheel which is a more modern innovation that represents the various equinoxes and solstices.
