Description
This home always managed to catch my eye and one day I finally made a point of taking the time to photograph the place.
Its sits upon a hill all alone except for the larger mountains framing it. I like the way the fence line rolls along the ground more in harmony with the gentle swell of the land than trying to make the ground match the fence.
The house has a sense of mystery and history to it and I have made up many fantasy stories in my head featuring this house. Perhaps one day I may have to break the fantasy I have built up surrounding this home and do an actual study of the house or perhaps not.
If you are interested in this type of architecture Wikipedia has a good article titled Gothic Revival architecture, which relates more to buildings than homes but is very informative.
While this isn't a true Gothic Revival or Empire architecture style home. There aren't any flying buttresses, arches or ribbed vaulting. It does have a sense of character that is certainly gothic in nature. The correct term is California Gothic.
