Mythological creatures, some are human defined, some are a combination of two or more species and some are symbolic. This series celebrates all of those definitions.
The work in this series is mixed media I've use a combination of vintage public domain graphics along with my original art and completed the art in a digital format.
Cernunnos Lord of the Wild Things from Celtic Mythology.
The Horned One is a Celtic god of fertility, life, animals, wealth, and the underworld. He was worshipped all over Gaul.
Cornu in modern French means horned, because modern French has roots in the Latin language imposed upon them by the Romans.
The Latin for horn is also cornu.
The Romans had a habit of changing local names to fit the Roman pattern: most Roman names end in us, so Cernunnos is a Roman name meaning Horned One.
Cernunnos in Celtic iconography is often portrayed with animals, in particular the stag.
